Listen to the tap tone of this Fretboard:
Sapodilla is a very hard stable wood that many years ago was a staple for the chewing gum industry. It's sap was extracted and then boiled down into a substance called chicle, (pronounced "cheeklay"), which was the chewable product before color and flavoring was added. The wood was commonly used for pilings and railroad ties but rarely for furniture as it was difficult to dry due to the high viscosity of the sap. River Reclaimed Sapodilla has no sap left in it making drying possible and it produces a very attractive fret board. Tone is very good and distinct.
